It’s so good to see you share the ways that you are refilling your creative well! It’s so essential to any kind of creative work.

I recently saw a review of Piranesi, which intrigued me! I just put it on my list, so it’s funny that you’re reading it!

I'm so glad my readers find the same value in it that I do in sharing it! :') You're SO right - it's very important.

No way! Piranesi seems very up your alley, Lydia, you should totally check it out!

Oh my days, I LOVE Piranesi (though I'm one of the people that takes it at face value rather than seeing it as a complex metaphor). I'm normally really quick off the mark with where stories are going, but this one constantly surprised me with the way it unwound. I love it!!

I always enjoy your music recommendations too, thank you!

Oh my goodness, your comment doesn't surprise me, Cara, it's a very YOU kind of book! I love it. So happy to have friends with such lovely taste in books.

And aw, I'm so grateful, because I love getting to share them!

You know, I avoided it for SO long because so many famous people (and a lot of pretentious people) gushed about it, so I was worried it would be eloquently vapid, but I regret waiting. It was beautiful and hopeful and had it's own kind of depth.

I NEED to read Til We Have Faces!!! It’s been on my TBR for years!

I’m currently reading an awesome book my sister gave me called Night Magic (nonfiction all about nocturnal wildlife, bioluminescent plants, and the general wonder of the natural world). I’m listening to J Lind’s new single “Monsoon Season” on repeat, as well as a lot of John Mark MacMillan.

I think you would LOVE IT. For some reason, this also feels like a fitting time of year for it.

Oh wow, Night Magic sounds absolutely incredible...adding that to my list! Have you ever read any of Robin Wall Kimmerer's work?

It's been a while since I've listened to either of those musicians, but their stuff is fantastic.

I think you’d really enjoy Night Magic!!! It’s one of my favorite reads of the year so far. No, I haven’t heard of Robin Wall Kimmerer. What genre are those books?

I will definitely check it out!

She's a botanist from the Potawatomi people -- she writes about environmental knowledge/philosophy from the indigenous lens, specifically about stewardship. Really fascinating!

I will have to check out Piranesi, it seems very "The Silver Chair" -ish. I have yet to read Till We Have Faces, but I should!

There are definitely some allusions to Narnia in Piranesi - more-so Magician's Nephew or TLTW&TW.

Love this! I'm so happy that you're reading Piranesi! You will have to share all your thoughts on it with me! Isn't it so mysterious? Agh I'm obsessed with that book.

Also I love that you have been into Aurora lately! I've been listening to a lot to her music a fair bit recently as well; it somehow feels like the right vibe for my Narnia-inspired novel. I haven't tried "What Happened to the Heart" yet so I should add that to my list!

Yes, it's gotta be an addition to my favorite fantasy books (ever). Have you read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell?

Wow, if AURORA is fitting for your novel, I'm even more excited about it now! Do you have a favorite song/any that are especially fitting for your writing? I actually think "What Happened to the Heart" is her best work, so you totally should, and let me know what you think!

Yay I'm so glad you're enjoying it! I haven't read Jonathan Strange... I'm rather intimidated by the length. Have you?

It's hard to pick a favorite... probably either "Runaway" or "Little Boy in the Grass". There isn't one particular song that fits for my book, it's more just the general vibe, haha. I will definitely give it a listen!

It's extremely intimidating, lol. I tried a few years ago and DNFed because the length was too much for me to power through at the time. Thinking of trying again eventually, especially because of how much I love Piranesi.

Those are great picks!
